I just wanted to share my story because I think it might help some other people along the way. I’m 24 now I was 23 when I got into my vehicle accident. It was in December of 2016 when I fell asleep while driving and woke up to my car and myself on fire. A stranger had pulled me out just in time. I was then med flighted to mass general where I then had a 4 day induced coma. When I woke up I had both my arms and hands bandaged my head shaved, my legs covered along with my back and left side. Then I was told 47% of my body had suffered extensive burns that would require skin grafts. After 10 or so surgeries in the span of a year I’m finally bandage free. I particularly lost two fingers on my left hand and still have motion issues throughout my arms, left hand and back. I also have only two surgeries remaining. After explaining all that I’m also a stay at home mom to a five year old boy and have been since I got out the hospital and rehab. My husband and family are an amazing support system. I just hope that another woman might see this that’s in the same situation and know that you do move on but you have to keep pushing for it but also know it’s okay to have a tough day or moment. A quote that has kept me goes is “a comfort zone is a beautiful place, but nothing ever grows there.”
