Location: France

Date Of Injury: 2012

I am a 19 year-old french girl and I would like share my story.

When I was 16 years-old, I was disguised as a sheep for my high school carnival, with cotton wrapped all over my body. When I left school this day, a friend asked me to stay with her to have a smoke… And my costume caught fire.

40% of my body was burned and I was in a coma for 6 months.

After two years of rehabilitation, I feel better and I resumed to a normal life – even if I have a lot of scars on my body.

I’d like to share my story to show that if you have the will and you believe in what you do, everything is possible.

I was burned on my arm and chest at age 12. I was in hospital for a month. For many years I was ashamed of the scars and always wore long sleeved shirts. Over the years I developed a slight sense of detachment from the central area of my body. I’m now 45 years old. I enjoy running, and the cool air feels good gently massaging me as I run. I live in Israel. Would like to meet others who suffer the scars of burns. We bear the biblical “mark of Cain”. Good luck Julie!
