Date Of Injury: April 21, 2013
Almost 2 years ago on April 21, 2013 my 19-year-old brother Kyle was involved in a bad car accident. He hit a Turkey and lost control and hit a power pole.
When he got out of the car he stepped on a power line which electrocuted him and threw him back about 25 feet. The car, grass and trees caught on fire as he laid their unconscious the fire spread to where he was laying.
He suffered 50% third-degree burns on his body except for his face and he spent 41 days in ICU.
He pushed himself to survive and recover. I could not be any more proud to call him my brother. I am his sister and I have walked hand in hand with him every day he is a constant reminder to me and everyone else of what true strength and courage and face and embody.
I have nothing but the utmost respect for burn survivors, they have to endure so much, a burn injury is unlike any other injury, there is no putting a cast on it and giving it time to heal. They have to fight every day and suffer every day, their lives are forever changed. I salute all burn survivors.
