Taylor Charles

My name is Taylor Charles and on June 16, 2016 my life was changed forever. I was in my car stopped at a red light and was hit from behind. The lady that hit me was driving 70 miles an hour and never slowed down. Upon impact my car immediately burst into flames. I really don’t remember every detail of the accident, but I do remember trying to get out of my seatbelt. Thank God a man who witnessed the accident was able to break my window so I could crawl out of my car. I fell to the ground and I also remember a lady and her grandson telling me to drop and roll and trying to comfort me. At the time I was still conscious and asked her to call my mom and also asked for her to pray with me. I don’t remember anything else from the accident but was later told I was flown by helicopter to UTMB in Galveston, TX. I was on life support for a few weeks and sustained third degree burns to 80-90% of my body. I had three broken ribs, two broken bones in my back, a laceration to one of my kidneys. Some weeks later I can remember asking God “why me?” I had everything going for myself. I was a catering coordinator at a local restaurant, was about to be a junior in college and had just gotten my first car. It took me awhile to understand that this will be my testimony. I choose to stay positive and be thankful that I am still alive. I am a living miracle and I want others to know that God is real and that he does work miracles. Faith is everything! Recovery is very challenging as I have to learn all over again how to do normal daily task, but I am so grateful to have an amazing support team. The recovery process will be long because I have more surgeries to go through. Sometimes I get anxious, but I’m constantly praying for patience. I know that God will continue to keep me and work things out for the good in my life. Thank you all for giving me a chance to share my story!
