Date of injury : 23th of January 2015.
On 23th January 2015 I was cooking, I put some oil in the pan and I covered it with the lid because I thought it would boil faster. (It did) And I left it for 5 minutes, when I removed the lid, the pan flared up. I was just in front of it so I got the flames straight on me, all of my clothes got burned and some parts of them were stuck onto my skin. I had to roll over myself because I was a real human torch, the fire spread so fast in a few seconds. I thought I was going to die, I literally had a lot of memories of my life coming through my head when I was rolling on the floor, the pain was unbearable and I felt like I was about to pass out but I had the strength to tell myself that I needed to get up for my daughter at least to unlock myself out of my apartment so someone could call the ambulance/firefighters.
I got up, looked at myself in the mirror, my face was so swollen, and my skin was so white… I didn’t realize I was severely burned because it wasn’t red or brown like everyone think it is, just white and swollen… I realized when they told me I had to have surgery because the scars were too deep to heal, it was a third degree burn, I have had graft on almost every parts I got burned, both hands, on my neck, my chest, my right arm (entirely almost) my left arm, my left leg. I had 2nd degree burn on my other leg and right foot. It has been 2 years since the accident and I still go to the Kinesiotherapist almost every day to recover the mobility I lost, I also follow an LPG machine treatment for the scars.”
