Hello my name is Crystal Brooks and on Sept 4 2016 I was burned 15% with 3rd degree burns. My family and I were vacationing at my father’s house near Alpena Mi when I slipped on a rock and fell backwards into a 6 foot campfire that had a metal ring around it. The ring immediately melted my skin to it so I was unable to get out for about 30 seconds, as I tried to propel myself up from my palms of my hands that were engulfed in the raging fire I thought those were my final moments. My father saw me from a distance and pulled me out and helped me put my body out. The end result 15% 3rd degree to my back, hands and legs. I spent almost a month at U of M where I had skin grafts on my back and both hands. They helped me use my hands again as well as learning to walk. I am forever grateful for all the support of friends family and co workers that stood by my side.
