A car that crashed into a parking lot fundraiser sent one 3-year-old boy to the hospital, where he’s struggling to hold on after he was run over and burned.

Witnesses described a horrific scene in which four children were hit, but Terrick Harris was the most critically injured.

He was hit by the car and then suffered third-degree burns when hot grease used to fry fish and chicken flew onto his body.

On top of the burns, the family says that he has a fractured skull, brain swelling, and a seriously injured right leg.

In a phone interview, the boy’s grandmother said that she’s remaining at his bedside full-time at the San Antonio Military Medical Center. She refused to leave his side to go on camera, but did say that she’s grateful for the support that the family has received.

Thousands watched Harris’ story online and many wrote comments expressing their best wishes. That support is what the family will need for the long haul as Terrick is being transferred to Galveston for specialized treatment.

The road to recovery will take a lot of time and a lot of money. The family has started a GoFundMe page seeking help for Terrick’s medical expenses: https://www.gofundme.com/25jecx4s

One driver involved in the accident was ticketed for not having a valid license, but police aren’t filing charges against either driver involved in the crash, calling it a tragic accident.

Meanwhile, the other children are said to be recovering as well.
